Comments: I was very surprised to find this site, it brought back a lot of memories. I was with the 147th from mid '69 until the end of Nov. 71.

I came to the unit from the Americal Div. (11B10 type) and was a gunner, crew chief, and the flight engineer on 68-15830, 68-15834, and finally on 69-17112.

Comments: Served with 176 AD Company in SVN '66 -'67. Spent a lot of time rigging slung loads and doing CS gas drops with "Hillclimber". Brings back a lot of memories seeing your website.

Comments: Really enjoyed this website! The pictures are great. The patches brought back memories. I was the ASO for the 147th from early 1978 until Jun of 1981. Barbers Point was a good place to be stationed. Maj Kenneth Chien was the CDR for most of that time and was the best one I had in 20 years in the Army. Back to the patches. The one that has the colors of the rainbow in it was designed by a number of people in the company and I drew the design and ordered the patches. Maj Chien got us permission to wear them on our uniforms because they were not authorized at the time. He agreed that we would only wear the subdued version of the patch but somehow the full color ones starting showing up on flight suits. It was a great morale booster. When Maj Chien turned over command to Maj Dennis Cross, the 25th ID Commander did the Change-of-Command ceremony. MGN Lynn (I believe) told the company formation that we were the best unit of any type in the entire division. It was a proud moment of all of us and Maj Cross also was a great commander.

Hoping to hear back from some old Hawaii Hillclimbers.

Regards,

Darell
